Borač at Varošište was a major seat of the Radinović–Pavlović family above the Prača.

The ruined complex beside Varošište was a principal seat of the Radinović–Pavlović family. Rogatica municipality describes its extensive foundations above the left bank of the Prača and records Ottoman capture before 1466, followed by abandonment. A possible older namesake lies elsewhere near Borač village; the atlas does not merge those two locations. This model is a limited study of the surviving defended ridge, not a reconstruction of the entire noble town.

More than a walled residence
Rogatica’s municipal history connects the fortress with a suburb recorded as Sotto Boraz. Nearby Varošište, the Carina locality and stećak burial grounds preserve the wider context of a noble centre rather than an isolated military post.
Which Borač is this?
The municipality distinguishes the extensive foundations by Varošište from a possible older fortress near Borač village. This entry concerns Varošište. Ottoman forces captured it before 1466 and subsequently abandoned it.
A noble centre and caravan country
Rogatica’s municipal history places the surrounding district on the medieval Dubrovnik–Srebrenica route and connects the local market with livestock trade. It describes the Pavlović family’s authority over a broad area between the upper Bosna and the Drina. Borač should be read within that economic setting: its owners’ power involved settlements and exchange as well as defensive walls. The municipality notes that the name Borač was even used for Rogatica’s market in the early Ottoman period. A name in a trading document may therefore identify a market rather than the hilltop fortress.
