Dobor Fortress
Dobor is a two-tower medieval fortress beside the Bosna near Modriča, attributed to Ivaniš Horvat in 1387–1388.

Dobor stands on the left bank of the Bosna, approximately four kilometres upstream from Modriča. The municipality identifies Ivaniš Horvat as the builder of the two-tower fortress in 1387–1388. Its strategic position brought repeated attacks and changes of control. Excavation also identified older occupation layers, so the medieval ruins sit within a much longer archaeological landscape. Dobor and Doboj are separate fortresses along the same river corridor.

Why this river position mattered
The municipal account places Dobor on the Bosna’s left bank, upstream from Modriča, and connects its repeated conquest with its strategic location. Dobor and Doboj are different fortresses on the same river; similarity of their names should not merge their histories.

The municipality reports seven earlier archaeological layers from the Metal Ages. These concern occupation beneath the medieval monument. They do not make the standing towers prehistoric, but show why the site has value beyond its late-medieval military story.

That is a useful starting point for examining its silhouette: the space and connection between the towers matter as much as either tower on its own. Compare that compact arrangement with the broad river landscape below. This is an architectural reading of the documented form, rather than a claim about an unrecorded battle or room function. The site’s earlier archaeological layers also mean that ground beneath a ruined wall may preserve evidence unavailable in a surface photograph or a 3D reconstruction.
