Kastel Fortress
Kastel occupies the riverside historic centre of Banja Luka. The broad fortified complex belongs to a site with earlier occupation and extensive later military development. Unlike the narrow hilltop castles elsewhere in the atlas, its enclosing walls contain a spacious sequence of courts beside the Vrbas. The tourism organisation identifies it as one of the city's principal heritage places. Its present cultural uses add another layer to a long history, and modern event installations should not be confused with historical military fabric.

Interior gate tower
Kastel's low fortified courtyards include roofed gates and internal divisions. Their heights, roofs and detail here are approximate; no fantasy central keep has been added.
Projecting river bastion
The outer wall follows the mapped bastioned footprint on the left bank of the Vrbas. Earth-filled defensive projections express the broad artillery fort rather than a hilltop castle.

Municipal redevelopment documents identify a former artillery barracks area. This long roofed range illustrates the fortress's service buildings; its exact openings and preserved form remain estimates.
